I love seeing the juxtaposition of styles: it's unexpected, interesting, and always fresh - it is also tricky. For this edition of How Do You Wear It, Lisa and I take on this patent belt from ModCloth.com shown above. You can see her stylings of the belt in blue here. For myself, I felt I wanted to try to juxtapose the girlishness of the belt with items a bit more modern and urban. Here is what I came up with:

And now, here is the outfit broken down:

Strutt Bubble Skirt in Blue

When thinking of modern, what immediately comes to mind is jumpsuits and bubble hems and this jumper from Revolve Clothing embodies both! This dark blue jumper features a major bubble hem, button fly, fully lined skirt, and major attitude. I didn't actually like jumpers before, but this one made me change my mind.

Since this outfit is so oversized and extreme, what with the bulging bubble hem, the oversized belt, and the crazy strapped gladiators, it needed at least one item to show some restraint. This simple satin blouse from Forever 21 accomplishes just that with its subtle ruching and basic v-shaped neckline.

To add even more modern grit with this outfit, step into these killer sandals from Nordstrom. These gladiators on speed feature an easy to use zipper back and a kick-ass platform heel. Fierce!

Finally of course, we have the bling. Green and gold is such a beautiful combination, as the warmth of gold is a great contrast to the coolness of greens. Since the belt itself draws so much attention, an abundance of jewellry would be overkill, so try to keep things to a minimum by only choosing one of these two items. However, I would hardly blame you if you chose to wear both! The bangle is substantial enough to balance the graphic strength of the belt, whereas the earrings draw subtle attention to the face. Both items feature Coach's 'C' logo, but here the logo gives the pieces a slightly urban bohemian feel, as if you could have just as easily bought them at a craftfair.
